I receive alot of submissions of items created with a ginkgo motif. As one can expect, I have seen most easily found ginkgo items. If its a front page Amazon item, or etsy item, you can be sure I’ve seen it.
I’ve consulted with a couple of artists now, who wished for ginkgo inspiration for this or that project and sought my input from a ginkgo ‘as an artistic motif’ collector eye. I’ve got a particular taste that I feature on this blog. Straying away from the Arts and Crafts movement, and more I feel, abstract or Impressionist.
All of this said…
Its become more and more difficult to find items I feel are truly inspiring to me and the asthetic I enjoy collecting via this blog…and perhaps my audience…which by the way impresses me daily when I look at the Stats!
For artists who come for similar inspiration….theres a few things that I wish have been created in the ginkgo shape…either in a refreshed manner or period at all or would like to see more of.
The running list of items I am still seeking:
stained glass
embroidery
paper craft
shaped soap
tattoos
wood burning
inlay/marquettry
furniture
fixtures
gadgets!
childrens room/decor
pajamas
lingerie
kinetic sculpture
costume design
bridal gear i.e. gowns, themed weddings etc ( I receive many contacts about this particularly!)
TRULY unique and one of a kind jewellery
..
more to come

Bike Racks in MidTown Memphis by Yvonne Bobo
Photo and details on the project: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/apr/11/functional-art/
Noting: I picked up word on this from The Ginkgo Pages, usually not duplicating content, I just couldn’t resist adding this one to my ‘collection’

The symbol of the Carolina Breast Cancer Study is the gingko leaf, selected by UNC graphic designer Dana Bayley for its beautiful and graceful shape, and because the gingko tree prospers even under difficult conditions. Its combination of beauty, strength, and persistence symbolize the women who contribute to this study.

Do you visit this blog occasionally?
Why?
I get asked ALOT why I have this blog. And what the fascination is.
I know how many hits I get in a day, in a week. And I see by the stats what you are looking for. You’re not looking for fabric, you’re looking for ginkgo fabric. You’re not looking for art, any old art. You seek Ginkgo Art.
Why?
Tell me why. Please. Send me a comment.
I need to know.
As well, I find it lovely, that some that know I collect for this blog, send me links. I wonder, have you to become smitten by the ginkgo?
Does have to be long. Tell me in 1 word to 1000 words…why do you come here?
