I receive alot of submissions of items created with a ginkgo motif. As one can expect, I have seen most easily found ginkgo items. If its a front page Amazon item, or etsy item, you can be sure I’ve seen it.
I’ve consulted with a couple of artists now, who wished for ginkgo inspiration for this or that project and sought my input from a ginkgo ‘as an artistic motif’ collector eye. I’ve got a particular taste that I feature on this blog. Straying away from the Arts and Crafts movement, and more I feel, abstract or Impressionist.
All of this said…
Its become more and more difficult to find items I feel are truly inspiring to me and the asthetic I enjoy collecting via this blog…and perhaps my audience…which by the way impresses me daily when I look at the Stats!
For artists who come for similar inspiration….theres a few things that I wish have been created in the ginkgo shape…either in a refreshed manner or period at all or would like to see more of.
The running list of items I am still seeking:
stained glass
embroidery
paper craft
shaped soap
tattoos
wood burning
inlay/marquettry
furniture
fixtures
gadgets!
childrens room/decor
pajamas
lingerie
kinetic sculpture
costume design
bridal gear i.e. gowns, themed weddings etc ( I receive many contacts about this particularly!)
TRULY unique and one of a kind jewellery
..
more to come

One would notice that its not often I blog jewellery. To which I would claim that theres not much ‘new’ that I see as afar as jewellery. Every now and then a piece will jump out at me, something fresh that shares the imagery of the ginkgo nicely without duplicating the 100’s of designs all Ginkgo-ites have seen many times before.
I feel that this piece is a prime example of achieving the simplicity of the design motif of ginkgo, that also feels inspired.
Maybe I ought to start actually saying something about the things I blog….. I was challenged once about my asethetic knowledge of the ginkgo motif. Unless I begin putting into words what modern day ginkgo is, I may never be able to truly claim the title I wish as being an archivist of ginkgo and to be acknowledged for my level of knowledge.
Simple musings from a bloggist.
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING work by Jim Kelso, ENTIRELY worth a gander to his other collection
Tourmaline earrings by Beaucoup De Bijoux
GORGEOUS work. Big fans of Tourmaline in this house. Please look at their other listings. Really wonderful exploration and presentation of the Natural forms of Tourmaline (gemmologist in a previous ‘life’ here)
